Aptitude Testing

When assessing someone’s suitability for a role or training program, do you have enough information to make an informed decision?

Behavioural fit is crucial to any organisation. A new recruit or team member can drastically upset the status quo if their behavioural style is at odds with those around them. But is this enough to go on?

Knowing an individual’s behavioural profile is a great starting point for discussion, but may be limited by that person’s self-insight, or ability to reflect on their behaviours and how they are perceived by others.

Assessing someone’s cognitive abilities – or aptitudes – gives you significantly more insight when viewing the big picture. Aptitudes – verbal, numerical, general, abstract reasoning etc. – directly affect our ability to reason and think, which at times may differ from how we behave. Furthermore, this ability to reason influences the way we see our behavioural relationships with others.

To fully assess an individual’s fit, it is imperative to consider many aspects that make up that person, including thinking style and motivations, reasoning abilities – or aptitudes – and behaviour to make an informed choice.

In addition to the powerful behavioural tool set provided by our partner, Discover Profiles, we supply many clients with comprehensive psychological assessment of individuals based upon their completion of aptitude testing in addition to personality profiling if so desired, in which their abilities to reason verbally, numerically, analytically and in an abstract manner all are benchmarked.
